Matthew Markworth is the curator of The Midwest Haiku Traveling Rock Garden, which was featured in Modern Haiku’s “Spotlight” in the Winter/Spring 2025 issue. He is a member of the Ohaio-ku Study Group, and enjoys spending time with his family and working in his ecommerce business.
Along with appearing in A New Resonance 12 (2021) and other anthologies, his haiku have garnered the honor of winning First Place in each of the Robert Spiess Memorial Haiku Awards (2019), the Peggy Willis Lyles Haiku Awards (2019), and the HSA Haiku Awards in Memorial of Harold G. Henderson (2024).
A haiku of his was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, another won a Touchstone Award for Individual Poems (2023), a third was shortlisted for a Touchstone (2020), and he has received two “Favorite Haiku of Issue” awards from Modern Haiku.
