The Haiku Foundation honors the work of contemporary masters of the dual art of haiga: visual image wedded to haiku. This month we feature a collaboration between an’ya and Jerome Berglund.
In 2011, an’ya was voted one of the top ten living haiku poets by her peers, albeit she considers herself to be a tanka poetess. She’s Founding/First Editor of the TSA journal Ribbons, past Editor of TSA’s Newsletter, Founder/First Editor of the UHTS and cattails, Founder of aha awards, Fleeting Words Tanka Competition, Samurai Haibun Contest, and Songbirds Online, Founder/Editor of moonset literary newspaper and journal, Founder/President of OHTS, Past haigaonline Editor, and Founder/Editor of Tanka Origins.
Jerome Berglund has many haiku, haiga and haibun he’s written, have been exhibited or are forthcoming online and in print, most recently in bottle rockets, Frogpond, and Modern Haiku. His first full-length collections of poetry Bathtub Poems and Funny Pages were just released by Setu and Meat For Tea press, and a mixed media chapbook showcasing his fine art imagery is available now from Yavanika. He is also an established, award-winning photographer, whose black and white pictures have been shown in New York, Minneapolis, and Santa Monica galleries.
