Haiga of Beth McFarland 2

Beth McFarland
The Haiku Foundation honors the work of contemporary masters of the dual art of haiga: visual image wedded to haiku. This month’s featured artist is Beth McFarland.
Originally from Northern Ireland, Beth McFarland now lives near the Black Forest in Germany. After training as a scientist, Beth earned her PhD from Queen’s University Belfast, Department of Agriculture. On relocating to Germany, she spent decades teaching and coaching ESL (English as a Second Language) students.
Beth has been creating haiga for a number of years, and was a Charter Member of UHTS, as well as a resident artist for Cattails magazine from 2013-2017. Her first haiga collection‚ Birth, was published in 2021 by Red Moon Press.
