Who doesn’t like popping pimples or removing blackheads? Apparently, everyone does – myself included.
Usually, people advise against popping pimples; that’s mainly because the pus usually contains bacteria which, when popped, will spread to nearby areas on the skin. Plus, when you’re popping your pimple, you’re forcing most of the pus upwards and outside, but at the same time you’re forcing the rest downwards, inside; which might rupture the inner walls and can cause cystic acne.
Yes, they are right, but that’s for acne-like pimples only. How about blackheads? Blackheads merely contain some bodily oil mixed with dead skin cells which has clogged your pores. Not only removing blackheads is fun, it’s also healthy (done correctly), because you’re getting rid of the clogging and opening up your pores.
So, we get to do the fun thing! But how to remove blackheads correctly? Mind you, doing it correctly is VERY important, because it’s very easy to damage your skin in the process. It can lead to scars which then will be much more difficult to get rid of.
The first method that comes to mind is blackhead remover strips. I do not advise using them! They can be very rough on your skin. It really lowers the condition of your skin. Here I’m going to write a method which is healthier!
This is called the steaming method. Quick rundown: You expose your face to hot steam for some time. The heat and moisture softens your skin greatly, so it’s much easier to remove blackheads. Plus, the heat from the steam makes the blood circulation in your face faster, so your facial skin gets renewed faster.
How to do it is very simple. Get some sort of bowl, and fill it with hot, boiling water. Then get a towel and wrap it around the bowl so that when you look down you’re looking directly down on the towel, and your face isn’t exposed to outside air thanks to the towel that’s around your head. If you want, you can add some lemon in the water for better properties but that’s not really needed.
Stay in that position for a good 15 minutes. After that, you will realize that the skin on your face has become very soft. Now it’s the time to remove blackheads. You will also realize that the blackheads are basically coming out by themselves now when you’re applying even the tiniest pressure on them. For best results, don’t directly squeeze the area tightly but gently prod/push your skin around the blackhead with a towel.
This method is very healthy! The steaming method is used for a variety of facial skin problems and not only helps you in getting rid of blackheads, also helps improve your skin condition greatly.
