Thanks for Being a Part in International Haiku Poetry Day 2025

Hundred of haiku lovers around the world celebrated International Haiku Poetry Day 2025 in many ways.

The HaikuLife Haiku Film Festival 2025 screened 49 new videos. They are available permanently in our HaikuLife Archive and will be featured individually on the blog in the ensuing months.

The EarthRise Rolling Haiku Collaboration produced another outstanding showing, with poets from around the world contributing to the world’s largest collaborative poem. This year’s theme was glaciers, taking our cue from The United Nations Year Designation. 2025 is designated the International Year of Cooperatives, the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, the International Year of Peace and Trust (and we wish them well with all these directives), and, finally, the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation.

And while we have the details from only a handful of local meetings, we know a number of other meetings were held as well. We hope to offer reports from as many as possible in the next few days. Send your photos and a summary of your event, and we will post it here!

The winners of the 2024 Touchstone Awards were announced in three categories: the Touchstone Distinguished Books Award, the Touchstone Award for Individual Poems, and the Touchstone Award for Individual Haibun. Each recipient will receive an acrylic plaque with their title or poem inscribed and be honored with an individual blog post over the next few days.

Thank you for spending time with haiku, and with us, on International Haiku Poetry Day!
