The Renku Sessions: November 2025 Invitation

Hello, renku friends. I am John Stevenson and I will be leading you in a brief, twelve verse renku before Kala Ramesh starts her session in February.

For verses that require a kigo (formal season word or phrase) we will be using The Five Hundred Essential Japanese Season Words: https://thehaikufoundation.org/omeka/items/show/821

This week I am inviting you to offer as many as five autumn hokku (opening verse). They may feature any autumn kigo from the on-line list. One of the first two verses will be a moon verse but it does not have to be the hokku. The hokku should be offered in a three-line format.

Please use the submission box, below to enter your verses. Submissions will close at midnight, eastern US time, on Monday, November 10. My selection of a hokku and instructions for the second verse will appear here on Thursday, November 13.
