We welcome your video submissions to the HaikuLife Film Festival! Please follow these guidelines.

Deadline

We must have your work in hand by April 10 of the current year.

Content

Your video can be about anything related to haiku.

HaikuLife Videos | Videos in our special HaikuLife format consist of 17 segments, each 17 seconds long. A segment can be a single slide, a set of slides, even a video clip. Seventeen seconds is long enough to read two haiku — or one haiku twice — with proper space for natural breathing. HaikuLife videos often feature readings of chapbooks, group readings of anthologies, videos introducing a group and its activities to the haiku world, and videos outlining upcoming projects or programs. However, we hope you will not be limited to these content areas. Surprise us! For details and examples, see the Welcome to HaikuLife video and the galleries on the HaikuLife Film Festival page.

Other Videos | We are also interested in free-form videos, video haiga, feature films, and student films. For examples of these videos, see the galleries on the HaikuLife Film Festival page.

File Formats and Resolution

All presentations should be submitted in a standard video format — we prefer .mp4 files — and in a commonly used resolution (such as 1080p or 720p). If you’re using standard video software, we shouldn’t have any problems viewing your submission.

How to Share Your Video

Do not send us a link to a YouTube, Instagram, or TikTok post.

Instead, upload your video to a file-sharing service (such as Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, WeTransfer, etc.) and use the form below to send us a direct download link. Ensure the link settings permit us to download the file without requiring special access or permissions.
