Submission Deadline: 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake

The contest is organized by the Haiku Award Executive Committee of the Association of Haiku Peoples of Albacete (AGHA) and sponsored by several entities, including the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo, the Miyagi St. John the Baptist Museum, and the Michinoku Date Masamune Historical Museum.
March 11, 2026 marks the 15th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
In remembrance of this event, AGHA is requesting haikus in Spanish (haikus written in other co-official languages of Spain, such as Catalan, Basque, Galician, or Valencian, are also accepted) for the Children’s, Youth, and Adult categories. We are also requesting haikus in Italian, French, and English for the Children’s and Youth categories to promote greater and more international cultural exchange.
There are therefore three categories:
– Children’s for those born in 2011 or later.
– Youth for those born between 2005 and 2010 (both inclusive).
– Adult for those born in 2004 or earlier.
